Josh Padley vs Moussa Gholam
vacant WBA Interim World Super Featherweight Title · Salle des Étoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco · DAZN
Why the House picks Moussa Gholam
This is a tough test for Padley. I respect how he’s earned his opportunities, but scraping past Fiaz showed there’s still work to do. His persistence and body punching helped him through, yet he was too easily pushed backwards into exchanges on his opponent’s terms. Gholam can make those spells expensive.
I favour Gholam’s patience and punch selection. Against Rodriguez, he controlled the distance before hurting him downstairs. Padley needs to disrupt that measured approach with a busy jab, then work the body without standing square in front of him. My concern for Gholam is allowing himself too much thinking time between attacks. Padley’s engine could nick rounds while he’s waiting for the perfect opening.
I expect Padley to make him work and stay competitive, but Gholam’s cleaner punching should separate them. Josh cannot afford to take a shot just to land one, particularly when the body attacks start arriving. I’m picking Moussa Gholam by unanimous decision, with Padley’s determination keeping it honest throughout.
