Why the House picks Evelin Nazarena Bermudez

Bermudez is the proven article here, a world-level operator who has already been through the hard rounds, while Alegria is the younger, hungry challenger trying to turn a good winning run into a career-changing night.

Bermudez has that compact, seasoned look about her; she knows when to press, when to shorten the work, and when to make a fighter feel trapped without wasting punches. Her first-round stoppage of Sara Bailey in September 2025, with two knockdowns and the finish at 1:47, showed she can still put real spite on the shots when she gets the opening. Alegria’s route is movement, discipline and nicking clean moments before Bermudez sets her feet. She cannot stand square after punching, because Bermudez will walk her onto something on the whiskers. But Alegria has momentum, and her March 2026 win over Danna Paola Alanís for the WBC Silver light-flyweight title shows she is not just turning up for the tracksuit.

I am taking Bermudez to win by unanimous decision. Alegria is game enough and fresh enough to make this awkward in patches, especially early, but over ten rounds, Bermudez’s experience, pressure and punch selection should separate them.
