Armando Resendiz vs Koen Mazoudier

Form and level of opponents favour Resendiz, but Mazoudier showed against Nikita Tszyu that he won’t disappear just because somebody starts landing heavy shots.

Resendiz’s advantage is the pressure he can sustain while mixing punches upstairs and downstairs. Against Caleb Plant, he kept working until the cleaner boxer could no longer dictate the exchanges. He can be caught coming forward, though, and Mazoudier’s straight right gives him something to respect.

Mazoudier needs to get that right hand working behind his jab, then move before Resendiz answers. He’s dangerous when he plants his feet and throws combinations, but staying there for a prolonged trade would suit the Mexican. His willingness to fight through trouble is admirable; it also means he can absorb punishment when he ought to reset.

I expect Mazoudier to have success early, especially with Resendiz coming in as a late replacement. But I fancy Resendiz’s body work and stronger pressure to wear him down. Resendiz by a late stoppage.
