Troy Williamson vs Callum Simpson II

This isn’t a normal rematch; this is unfinished business with a dented ego attached. Callum Simpson was meant to be the coming force, the strong local favourite, the domestic champion being pushed towards bigger nights. Then Troy Williamson came to Barnsley, took Simpson’s best, stayed calm, and smashed the script to bits in the tenth. That changes a man, either for the better or the worse.

Simpson is younger, fresher, naturally strong at the weight, and he’ll still fancy himself if he can keep shape into the championship rounds. He’s got the engine, the physicality, and when he punches in straight lines, he can look the business. But last time, when the storm came back at him, he didn’t manage the danger. That’s the scar tissue now, even if it’s not on his face.

Williamson is the old fox here. He can look like he’s being outworked, then suddenly he finds the right shot and everything changes. His advantage is composure under fire. He doesn’t panic when he’s behind. Simpson’s weakness is that he can admire his own pressure and leave himself there to be timed.

Simpson has to box disciplined, jab, reset, and not go looking for revenge with his chin in the air. Williamson has to drag him into memory lane, make him feel that tenth round again, and test whether the confidence is rebuilt or just painted over.

I think Williamson will make this another uncomfortable night for Simpson, but I do believe the Barnsley man will get revenge on points.
