Reasoning

Claressa Shields dropping from heavyweight back to middleweight is the story here, but Kaye Scott is not some poor soul dragged in for a hiding. She is unbeaten, she has belts, and she will fancy that the weight move asks Shields a few uncomfortable questions.

Shields is the sharper, harder, more spiteful operator. She has been through Olympic finals, world-title nights, pressure, noise, and all the nonsense that comes with being the face of women’s boxing. Scott is taller, rangier, and has that long-limbed Australian awkwardness where she can spoil, hold shape, and make a fighter reach. The girl has got the frame, but can she stop Shields from getting close enough to rack up the points?

Shields must get inside Scott’s reach without rushing, jab to the chest, step across, and fire those quick two and three-shot bursts. Scott’s best route is distance, discipline, and making Shields pay on the way in. If she backs straight up, she’ll get her whiskers tested.

I think Scott is tough enough to hear the final bell, but Shields will be too quick, too seasoned, and too mean in the exchanges.

Shields wins by unanimous decision.
