Cherneka Johnson vs Dina Thorslund

Cherneka Johnson is tough and honest, and she’ll have no problem having a brawl if needed. But Dina Thorslund is favoured for a reason. She’s compact, seasoned, and she does the simple things well when the heat comes back at her.

Johnson has got that Aussie grit about her. She’ll step in, try to make Thorslund work every minute, and she’s not coming to Orlando just to make up the numbers. But the problem is, at undisputed level, work-rate alone doesn’t keep the belts warm. You need clean entries, tight exits, and the ability to win the quiet seconds of a round.

Thorslund’s advantage is her organisation. She boxes like someone who knows where her feet are before she lets the punches go. She can jab, press, and reset without falling over her front knee. Johnson’s danger is when she can drag Dina into close quarters and make it messy, because that’s where claret, elbows and panic can change a fight.

But over ten twos, I see Thorslund nicking the cleaner work, landing the straighter shots, and making Johnson chase too much leather. Johnson has her moments, but Dina’s ring generalship wins it.
