Fight Report

Justin Figueroa defeated Jose Edgardo Perdomo by retirement after the fourth round of their scheduled eight-round junior middleweight bout at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The main event headlined a Boxing Insider Promotions card and was carried live on DAZN. Both fighters made the 154-pound limit at the official weigh-in the previous day, with Figueroa at 154 and Perdomo at 153.

The opening round unfolded at a measured pace as Figueroa found his distance with a steady jab and front-foot pressure. He probed the body to push Perdomo on the ropes and walked him clockwise, keeping his lead shoulder high to blunt the right-hand counters. Perdomo spent much of the session circling and testing the lines with single jabs, looking to set traps as Figueroa stepped into range, but the local favourite dictated the geography and banked the cleaner work.

The second round kept the same pattern with slight increases in output.
Figueroa shortened his right hand down the middle and began finishing sequences with a left hook to the ribs before sliding out of range. Perdomo looked to answer with quick rights over the jab and the occasional check hook while retreating. Yet, the heavier shots belonged to Figueroa, whose steadier feet allowed him to press without smothering his offence. The crowd responded each time he doubled the jab and stepped across Perdomo’s escape route, a sign the tempo was moving in his favour.

By the third, Figueroa’s body investment was drawing longer holds and higher guard from Perdomo. The Uruguayan attempted to change the look with feints and sudden raids, but Figueroa met him with tight combinations—jab, right hand, and a finishing hook that drove Perdomo back to the ropes. The cleaner connections arrived later in the session, and Perdomo’s returns came in singles as he tried to buy time and get his feet back under him.

The fourth produced the decisive turn. Stalking behind a compact guard, Figueroa pinned Perdomo and landed a left hook near the end of the round that caused the knockdown. Perdomo beat the count but returned to his corner shaken. After an inspection, he remained on the stool, and the bout was waved off before the fifth round could begin, the result recorded as RTD 4. No scorecards were needed. The event was broadcast on DAZN from Atlantic City. It marked another headline assignment for Figueroa at the Tropicana, continuing a run that has made him a reliable draw in the venue.
