Biography

Alfred "Ice" Cole, born April 21, 1964, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is a retired American professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 2011. Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall with an 80-inch reach, Cole fought in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions, utilizing an orthodox stance.

Cole made his professional debut on March 25, 1989, at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, achieving a third-round TKO victory over Lorenzo Thomas. He quickly established himself as a formidable force in the cruiserweight division. On July 30, 1992, Cole captured the IBF Cruiserweight Title by defeating James Warring unanimously. He successfully defended this title multiple times, including notable victories over Uriah Grant and Glenn McCrory.

In pursuit of more significant challenges, Cole moved up to the heavyweight division. He faced several world-class opponents, including Tim Witherspoon, Hasim Rahman, and Sultan Ibragimov. Despite his efforts, Cole had less success in the heavyweight ranks than his cruiserweight dominance.

Cole's final professional bout took place on September 3, 2011, against Danny Williams in Karlstad, Sweden, where he lost via split decision after six rounds. He retired with a professional record of 35 wins (16 by knockout), 16 losses, and 3 draws. Beyond the ring, Cole portrayed boxer Ernie Terrell in the 2001 film "Ali," showcasing his versatility and connection to the sport.
