Filipino Pedro Adigue Jr took his WBC world super-lightweight title to the Palazzetto dello Sport in Rome, Italy to defend against local hero Bruno Acari (36-2-0), the reigning European champion.
British referee Teddy Waltham was the sole arbiter and returned a 74-66 scorecard in favour of Acari.
Acari went unbeaten from August 1966 until he retired in July 1978 including nine defences of the WBC title he won from Adigue Jr.
