Omar Andres Narvaez made the first defence of his WBO World Super-flyweight Crown against Mexico's Victor Zaleta in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Narvaez had won the title from Nicaraguan Everth Briceno nine months earlier after having relinquished his WBO World Flyweight Title after sixteen title defences.
This would be Zaleta's first try at a world title even though he had mixed in good company in his 17-1-0 record. The single loss coming in his seventh pro bout against Faustino Cupul (20-1-0).
Zaleta fought aggressively throughout but the champion always had the last say in their sometimes furious exchanges, winning the fight by unanimous decision.
Scores: Ramon Cerdan 120-107 | Cesar Ramos 120-107 | Ignacio Robles 119-108.
