Thailand's Oleydong Sithsamerchai made the seventh defence of the WBC World Minimum Title he had won from compatriot Eagle Den Junlaphan in November 2007 against Japan's novice contender Kazuto Ioka in Hyogo, Japan.
Sithsamerchai had a huge advantage in experience having had the same amount of world title bouts as Ioki had professional outings. However, Ioki blasted his way to world title glory after he dropped the champion in the 2nd and fifth rounds, with the referee Bruce McTavish calling a halt to proceedings at 1:07 of the round.
After two further successful defences, Ioki unified the WBC and WBA World Minimum titles with a win against compatriot Akira Yaegashi. In his next bout, Ioki won the vacant WBA World Light-flyweight Title against Mexico's Jose Alfredo Rodriguez. and on 22nd April 2015, Ioki added the WBA World Flyweight Title to his collection with a majority decision win over Argentina's Juan Carlos Reveco.
Ioki became a four-weight world titleholder on the 19th of June 2019 when he won the vacant WBO World Super-fly Title against Filipino Aston Palicte.
