Marcel Thil and Lou Brouillard met on three successive occasions, two with Thil's World Middleweight Title at stake. In both title fights. Brouillard was disqualified. All three bouts took place in a three month period and all at the Palais des Sports in Paris, France.
The third and final bout of their trilogy ended in farce when Brouillard appeared to land a hard right to the jaw of the champion who promptly grabbed his groin, and fell to one knee. The referee counted the champion out, consulted with the ringside judges and then disqualified the challenger for a foul.
Thil, fought for the last time seven months later and retired for good.
