Germany's Henry Maske made the sixth defence of his IBF World Light-heavyweight crown against Canadian Egerton Marcus in what also doubled as a rematch of the 1988 Olympic Games middleweight final. Maske won the Gold medal on a 5-0 score.
Marcus came out looking strong and powerful, he was able to land some hard shots on the normally hard-to-hit champion who pocessed terrific defensive skills, but as the rounds wore on, Maske got in his rhythm and pulled away on the scorecards.
Scores: Walter Cavalieri 118-110 | Enzo Scala 118-109 | Torben Seemann Hansen 118-110.
Maske won the IBF 175lb crown from 'Prince' Charles Williams in March 1993 and made ten successful title defences before losing in a WBA/IBF unification match with Virgil Hill in November 1996.
