Saint Louis, Missouri's IBF world super-welterweight champion Corey Spinks defended the title he had won seven months earlier from Russian Roman Karmazin at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida against Californian Rodney jones (37-3-1).
In a one-sided bout, Spinks came away with his title intact and a unanimous points decision.

In Spinks' next outing, he moved up to middleweight and challenged Jermain Taylor, losing by split decision.
