China's only world boxing champion Xiong Zhao Zhong lost his WBC world minimumweight title to Argentina based Mexican Javier Martinez Resendiz (12-4-1) by 5th round stoppage at City Hall in Haikou, China.

Zhong (22-4-1), China's first-ever world titleholder stopped Zhong in the 5th round, referee Bruce McTavish ending matters at 2:36 of the round.

Since Zhong, there have been 3 world boxing champions in total (at the time of writing January 2021).
