Reasoning

This one feels like a champion keeping the engine warm, but don’t confuse that with a stroll. Oscar Collazo is the business at Minimumweight: sharp, spiteful, and tidy with it. Joey Canoy isn’t being dragged in as cannon fodder either. He’s experienced, awkward, southpaw, and he can whack a bit, so Collazo still has to mind his Ps and Qs.

The difference is craft. Collazo doesn’t just throw bunches for show. He steps in, lets the leather go, shifts his feet, and makes you reset before you’ve worked out what hit you.

Canoy’s best chance is to make it ugly early: get his lead foot outside, lean on Collazo, smother him, and turn it into a brawl.

But Canoy can be made to follow, and that’s a bad habit against a sharp little operator like Collazo. If he starts reaching or coming in square, he’ll get hit with counters and body shots all night.

The nuts and bolts are simple. Collazo’s edge is tempo and punch placement. Canoy’s danger is awkwardness and southpaw timing.

I see Canoy having a go for a few rounds, but Collazo breaks him down piece by piece.

Prediction: Oscar Collazo wins by stoppage.
