 Jaime Munguia vs Patrick Allotey
 WBO World Super-welterweight Title
 Saturday 14th September 2019
Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, California
 Golden Boy Promotions

WBO super-welterweight champion Jaime Munguia made short work of Ghanian Patrick Allotey, stopping him in 4 rounds to make the fifth successful defence of the title he won from Sadam Ali in May 2018. Munguia was standing in for countryman Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on the Mexican Independence weekend. Canelo will be meeting WBO light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev on November 2nd. The fight was held at the Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, California

This will probably be Munguia's last fight in the 154lb weight class due to problems boiling down to the weight. The champion is 6 foot tall and will feel stronger up at 160lbs.

Allotey came into this fight with a 40-3-0 record with 30 knockouts to his name but those fights were at welterweight and he just wasn't big or strong enough to take the heavy-handed Munguia's punches.

Allotey was knocked down three times, twice in the 2nd round and once in the 3rd when he dropped to one knee after a body shot, he got back up but his corner sensibly pulled him out of the fight.

It will be interesting to see how the 22-year-old Mexican fares at the higher weight.
